Film #11 Peer Reviews What specific elements of the film opening did you like? Was there anything that left you confused? (be specific) What suggestions do you have for changes? the shots going back and forth between isles no there is some giggling in the background. In one shot she has on her mask but the next second she doesn't, you can hear someone say "go" before you walk down the stairs the second time, when your looking at the bottles you can hear there's background talk. Presented above are images of Lissa combining the clips on Monday of the 2nd week of editing. After Lissa and I sorted out the order we needed our scenes in, Lissa combined them with faint transitions between a couple of contrasting scenes. Lissa additionally dealt with the sound and sound of our film. Lissa and I decided we needed music, yet went through over thirty minutes attempting to track down the ideal music we had as a top priority.   The images above are of the opening scene we selected and me putting the videos together and cutting them to make our film. The purpose of our films plot it to represent the idea of a maze because of this it took us a lot of time to determine in what order the stair cases and doors being opened scene should be placed. When   editing our first clip we had to crop it and make it more   stabilized.   Our main problems when beginning to edit dealt with the sound and the order of the clips. Despite having filmed the different shots in order, we had to make modifications to fit our film because we realized when putting the shots together that some didn't work in their designated positions. Additionally, we had to the cut sound in some of the clips because there were students talking in the background. In our second week of filming my partner, Lissa acted and I was the cameraman, so I filmed all the shots. The images attached above are all screenshots of shots and angles we filmed throughout our week of filming. Lissa had to bring her green sweater and black leggings everyday to change into when filming to ensure that our film is consistent. We got all of our filming done this week, except our last shot because it would be outside of the school, so we planned to do it at the beginning of the followign week. 

The photos above were pictures Lissa and I took pictures of the different camera shot we wanted to use on the opening scene our film. It took a lot of time to figure out how we were going to film our opening clip.  The images above are screenshots of a videos I recorded and took in order to figure out how we wanted to film Lissa running down the stairs; different angles and shots.  Attached above are the photos and screenshots Lissa and I took our first days of filming. We didn't actually commence our filming till the following week, for our first we spent determining our locations and practicing shots of what angles we wanted. Along with this we got a good idea of our timing with the different shots and acting. This process was time consuming, for Lissa and I filmed in school; we did however decided to film around lunch time and the passing periods to ensure little background noise and getting people in the background of our camera shots. 

 

Lissa and I  created our storyboard revolving around the idea of a mysterious film opening with creative transitions, hidden elements, no dialogue, and a plot. Our shots contain a line down the middle because it is the same shot in a scene, just with a different camera angles that will zoom in or out or change. The creation of our storyboard was lengthy it took us about 3 class periods to be able to put all the ideas in our heads on paper and develop our thoughts into create transitions that will help make our film look professional.  Our film revolves around Lissa and I who are being filmed in different locations and find two different chess pieces. After opening the chess sets Lissa and I fall onto a lawn, we then both keep walking and finding our selves in different places as we continue to collect chess pieces along the way in her every new room we enter. Not only does viewing the film, but also writing about it helps me better understand the variety of different technical elements used in film because I was able to observe actual real examples of the film aspects we’ve been studying and learning.    To begin with, we have the different types of camera shots and angles used throughout the film. I decided to comment on the mise-en-scene of the TV show All American and selected season one episode one.  All American is about  Spencer James, a rising high school football player and A student at South Crenshaw High, who is recruited by coach Billy Baker to join his football team in Beverly Hills. Spencer's mother, Grace, and his best friend, Coop, convince him to take this opportunity. He is then forced to move in with Coach Billy's  family in order to protect his transfer permit to Beverly. Furthermore, Jordan, Billy's son and starting quarterback, isn't to thrilled to be sharing his father's attention or team spotlight. Meanwhile Spencer struggles to find his footing and ends up making an unlikely friend being Jordan's sister, Oliva, who struggles with her own problems.
